Knowing Jesus

The wisest man that ever existed, undoubtedly, the most popular being in the whole world is Jesus.

For the Christians who are so learned when it comes to the bible, the book of Matthew, the book of Mark, the book of Luke and the book of John has given us a remarkable documentation of the life and works of Jesus. But for those who are not so into reading the holy bible and depends only on their faith and trust, it is a privilege to know this man.

Jesus was born normally and grew up normally as well. Although the extraordinary kind of being that he is, Jesus also got tired and slept, got thirsty and drank and of course, got hungry and ate. According to Luke 7:9, Matthew 9:36, Matthew 26:37 and John 11:38, Jesus had emotions as surprise, sorrow, compassion and even apprehension. He had a deep relationship with God and always prayed just like human beings need to. However, after Jesus ascended to heaven, many claimed that he could possibly not be human with all its imperfections. He was just so holy to be human. Probably, he just appeared like one. However, the Holy Testament confirmed that Jesus was indeed human. From the book of John, he told us that Jesus became human.

However, then Jesus was acting like God. He forgave sins. If He were just human how could he claim that He can forgive sins when, in fact, only God can do so? If Jesus was just human his teachings were sinful. However, then all these teachings were supported by the miracles that Jesus performed. He confirmed that He can forgive sins by healing a paralyzed man. All His miracles were supporting everything that he was claiming. He had the power that humans are not capable of doing. He was God in the flesh, thus could speak and act like God.

Jesus knew what he is made of. His sense of identity is stable and clear. He spoke His own authority, that same authority equal to God.

Jesus was conceived in a special way. And he lived without sin. No matter what temptation is lurking, he had the best desire to carry out God’s will. His main mission was to do the will of God.

Jesus was worshiped by the people in a lot of occasions. He did not refuse it like angels do. In fact, even the angels worship Him, Jesus the Son of God.

In Colossians2:9, it said that Jesus is the precise image of God and fully divine. And because of this, we are commanded to put all our trust in Him. He is wholly trustworthy because Jesus is God. We could only give complete faithfulness to a divine person. The same person that only could forgive all our sins and the Savior that we offer our prayers and worships to.

Jesus showed us what God can do. He bridged the distance between the created and uncreated. He was there for the sinful and the holy. Nothing is impossible with God.

He sees everything, the first and the last.

As a worship song goes, “he is too wise to be mistaken and too good to be unkind.”

Trusting Jesus could be scary. You may not know what will come next. Oftentimes people’s lives get too loud that people cannot seem to see His plan. When things seem to get really tough trusting Jesus’ heart is the only important thing. Nothing in the universe could beat whatever is coming. He knows so much better than we do and know us better than we know ourselves.

The only one thing that Jesus would like us to keep in mind and heart is to obey and follow His commands faithfully. For all these are prepared for us to help and guide humans in this powerful life.

With Jesus, we can never be too sure and never be afraid again because we know that he is weaving us to be like Him. He wants us to experience and enjoy life. Definitely, something good is in store. Letting God control our life could prove to be such a relief for he can take care of us better.
